Founded in 1969, the Museum preserves a valuable cultural heritage from the rich past of the area. It houses archeological, artistic and ethnographic collection. A jewel of the Museum is the cargo of the sunken Venetian ship from the 16th-century. Over 10,000 artifacts sat at the bottom of the sea for four centuries until 1967, when a local fisherman accidentally discovered the shipwreck. On display now: from cannons and compasses to cups, Murano glass, textiles, even pins and eyeglasses.
