Margarina, Susak

A very popular dive location is found on the southern side of the island of Susak. The large reef edge breaks and is falling from 5 m depth to a depth of 40 m creating a beautiful marine wall with abundance of flora and fauna. Nearby are the archaeological remains of an ancient ship carrying construction material, today revealing remnants of its cargo: tegulae, stone pillars, other material typical for the ancient era and building practices. The remains are scattered in 2 areas, one at depth 6 to 18m and other at depth 28 to 30 m.

Due to strong nutrient bearing currents, the walls abound in sea life. Sponges, Bryozoans, sea squirts and coral create a tapestry of colours. Tunas and greater amberjacks inhabit the open sea, and holes and crevices are a domain ruled by octopi.
